Downtown Marietta Neighborhood
Downtown Marietta is an area located within the larger city of Marietta, and also serves as the center of county government for all of Cobb County. The downtown area, as an important part of the City of Marietta, retains a blend of small-town charm along with the excitement of a larger urban community. There are a variety of housing options available, including single-family homes, apartments, townhouses, and condos, with prices ranging from the mid $150,000s to more than $700,000, depending on the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and the general location.
Because of its easy access to Interstates 75, 85 and 285, Marietta residents can easily make their way to a number of shopping destinations, including Cumberland Mall and the outlets located in North Georgia. It is also convenient to the restaurants and unique boutiques around the perimeter, or the artsy little shops in the downtown area.
While the area does have its own mass transit service and offers connecting service with a number of other transit services, including the city’s major service provider, MARTA, a large part of the population in the Marietta community owns their own vehicles.
Marietta residents have a number of outdoor parks scattered throughout their community, offering playgrounds, walking trails, picnic areas, and plenty of open green space. Some parks also offer off-leash areas for dogs according to their size, and swimming facilities for summer. People in the area also have access to the Kennesaw Mountain battlefield, the site of a clash during the Civil War. The park offers walking paths where the remains of some fortifications can still be seen, as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Several college campuses are located in the community, including Life College, Southern Polytechnic State University, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Kennesaw State University is located less than three miles from the neighborhoods, as well.
