Outer Northwest Tampa Neighborhood

Outer Northwest Tampa is the region just south of Highway 54, extending from Keystone to just beyond Lutz. This area is dotted with lakes and is just a few minutes from the Gulf Coast beaches. Neighborhoods in Outer Northwest Tampa include Lake Fern Villas, Brigadoon, and Citrus Park.

The Outer Northwest is less densely populated than Tampa, but it is an easy commute into the city. Some features of Outer Northwest include Lake Park, a shady park with a variety of activities, including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, archery, and picnicking. This park also has playgrounds, a remote control car race course, and a BMX track.

The Outer Northwest Tampa area provides several shopping plazas and malls that include Village Center, Market Place North II, Palms of Carrollwood Shopping Center, Cascades of Carrollwood, and North Pointe Plaza. Westfield Citrus Park is located in the Citrus Park neighborhood. This large mall contains anchor stores such as Dillard’s and Macy’s as well as a large movie complex.

Big Cat Rescue is also located in the area. This vital sanctuary is open to the public and is home to a variety of cats, including leopards, tigers, cougars, bobcats, lions, lynxes, and ocelots. The sanctuary covers 67 acres in the Citrus Park area.

The North Tampa Bay Trail winds through the region, providing more than five and a half miles of paved trail ideal for jogging, walking, skating, and biking. Other great locations in Outer Northwest Tampa include the Emerald Greens Country Club and the Carrollwood Cultural Center. The West Shore business District, downtown Tampa, and USF are all a short drive away.
