Townsend Neighborhood

Conveniently established along the northern perimeter of the San Jose Municipal Golf Course, the Townsend neighborhood is located in the northeast quadrant of San Jose, California, very close to the heart of downtown. It is a beautiful metropolitan area in the Santa Clara Valley, close to rolling hills and large mountains minutes away on its east side.

San Jose is located in the area referred to as Silicon Valley, in California. It was founded in the late 1700s and incorporated in 1850. It is the largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and historically is known for being California’s first state capital. The Townsend neighborhood is located in proximity to busy freeways, and is moments away from the San Jose International Airport. It is a thriving metropolitan community, situated adjacent to Townsend Park.

Townsend Park primarily serves families. There are numerous picnic tables, and the playground is modern and very large. Paved paths for children to ride tricycles and scooters are abundant, and the landscaping makes it easy for parents to supervise their children. Townsend Park has plenty of features for older kids and adults too. There are volleyball and tennis courts, and places to ride and perform tricks on bikes and skateboards. Open areas accommodate kite flying and Frisbee games.

The weather in San Jose is mild. Most of the year, days warm up nicely. They are cooled down at night by the distant ocean breeze. Natives to the area often refer to this as free air conditioning. The Townsend neighborhood is part of a large city where people balance work with pleasure amicably.
