Los Angeles at a Glance
Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood
Except for the discovery of gold in 1848, which brought with it a slew of fortune-seekers, outlaws, and gamblers to the area, Los Angeles was largely agricultural since it was founded in 1781. The San Pedro Railroad arrived in 1869, forever changing the face of LA. The small downtown area the developed around the railroad is the Historic Core of Downtown LA. A variety of historic buildings in the downtown area have been converted into lofts and apartments.
The Bradbury Building, built in 1893, is the oldest office building in LA. Cole’s is the oldest continually-operating restaurant — it opened in 1908. An area of museums, theaters, restaurants, and retail stores, the Historic Core feels more like a small town than an urban neighborhood. The Grand Central Market is an open-air farmers market featuring produce, spices, and more.
Fashionistas, bargain hunters, and those who live to shop will feel right at home in the Fashion District, a 90-block section of downtown Los Angeles, California that contains accessories, textiles, shoes, purses, and the latest and greatest fashions from designer gowns to blue jeans. Lofts designed as live/work spaces have made the Fashion District a great place to not only shop ’til you drop, but to live. Fashion students, stylists, buyers, and top designers are all finding their place in the Fashion District.
Santee Alley is the alleyway between Santee Street and Maple Avenue. This alley is an open-air bazaar of bargains that attracts shoppers from all over LA. The intersection of 9th Street and Los Angeles Street is another important location — the four biggest designer showrooms in the world are located here. In addition to some of the best shopping in the West, Downtown Los Angeles also contains restaurants, galleries, and nightlife.

About Our Deals
Apartment Finder utilizes the industry's largest and most complete database of real-time rents and availabilities to help you find an amazing deal on your next rental.
Price Drop
Apartment communities change their rental rates often - sometimes multiple times a day. We track the changes and keep you up to date when a rental rate decreases.
Best Value
"Best value" units are located in buildings rated three stars or higher. We label apartment rentals that are priced significantly less than similar high-quality units nearby.
Rent Specials
Apartment communities regularly advertise deals for new residents. Whether it's a move-in special or a free tv, we locate the rentals that offer a little something extra when you sign your lease.
Note: Based on community-supplied data and independent market research. Subject to change without notice.
