Peter Howen Neighborhood

Peter Howen is a mostly residential community close to a great variety of entertainment, shopping, recreation, and culture. The neighborhood is situated with Broadway Boulevard to the south, Alvernon Way to the west, Columbus Boulevard to the east, and 5th Street to the north. This orientation provides quick access to some of the most popular destinations in the area.

Shoppers from the Peter Howen area typically can be found frequenting El Con Shopping Center and Mall located to the southwest off Broadway Boulevard. This large shopping center is home to many major national brands including Home Depot, Champ Sports, Burlington Coat Factory, Office Depot, and more. Broadway Boulevard is also one of the major commercial roads in the area with numerous other popular shops and restaurants.

Recreation in the area is substantial. Unlike many areas of Tucson where parks are the biggest recreational draw, Peter Howen is close to one of the best golf courses in Tucson. Located directly across from the El Con Mall off Broadway Boulevard is the Randolph Municipal Golf Course. This golf course is well maintained and has numerous golf professionals willing to help players of all skill levels.

If golf isn’t your thing, the Randolph Recreation Center should be able to provide some form of recreation that fits your needs. With one of the largest tennis complexes in all of Arizona, Randolph provides high- quality courts with plenty of readily available competition. It is typical to find players practicing their serve throughout the day who are more than willing to take on an eager challenger. The Randolph Recreation Center also has a swimming pool with marked swimming lanes and an open pool area.
