Lynchburg, Virginia’s Montview community can be found off Mayflower Drive in picturesque southwest Virginia. The traditional and established neighborhood takes its name from the tree-covered scenic vistas of Candler Mountain and Jack Mountain offered the residents of this area. It is also the former home of Senator Carter Glass and historical landmark on the Liberty University campus sharing the same name. The community is comprised of single-family homes, apartment complexes, and rental houses. The quiet and quaint rural residential communities encircling Montview include Perrymont, Fort Hill, College Hill, Diamond Hill, and Sandusky.

Montview is uniquely positioned between multiple higher education institutions in the Lynchburg area. Liberty University can be found to the southwest of the neighborhood, while the private university Lynchburg College lies northwest of Montview. The Montview area draws a large student body, as a result, in addition to faculty, staff, and administrators for these large institutional local employers.

There are plenty of green spaces and local parks nestled around the Montview community, providing its residents with multiple outdoor recreational opportunities. Sandusky Park, Younger Park, and Jackson Heights Park dot the outer perimeters of the more rural area. Miller Park, Blackwater Park, College Lake, Reservoir Park, Jefferson Park, and the Blackwater Creek Natural Area are each located within a brief drive of the Montview neighborhood, as well.

Commuters in Montview enjoy quick and easy access to several local corridors and thoroughfares, like Highways 29, 460, 501, and 128. Downtown Lynchburg is located to the northeast of the Montview neighborhood. Additionally, the regional Falwell Airport is situated due east of Montview. Lynchburg Regional/Preston Glenn Field Airport can also be found several miles to the south of the community.
