Sylvan Park Neighborhood
The Sylvan Park neighborhood in Nashville is one of the city’s oldest and most popular destinations. It’s located on the city’s west side, close enough to the action coming from two of Nashville’s colleges but far enough away for it’s quiet streets to be walk friendly. The neighborhood boasts quaint homes, hip eateries, lush green parks and is anchored by the expansive McCabe Golf Course. There are several options for K – 12 education and adult learning in the area as well.
McCabe Golf Course is one of the city’s public courses. The full size, tree lined complex was recently refurbished. McCabe Park is just behind the golf course. The kid friendly park offers a baseball field and basketball court and a community center with playrooms and game rooms.
The golf course sits at a crossroads that features some of Sylvan Park’s cafes and restaurants. However many other options are available at the neighborhood’s north side along Charlotte Avenue. This side of Sylvan Park offers sweet treats, restaurants and unique shops. They’re close to Richland Park and the Richland Park library, a well-stocked branch of the Nashville Public Library system.
Other educational opportunities nearby include the Sylvan Park Elementary school. It’s a magnet school and a Paiedia Design Center focused on the ancient greek philosophy of learning. St. Ann’s Catholic School and Martha Vaughn Middle School are also in the Sylvan Park neighborhood. The Cohn Adult High School and Learning Center provide options for non-traditional students.
The Sylvan Park neighborhood provides easy access to downtown Nashville, Vanderbilt University and Belmont University, each being minutes away by bus or car. Aquinas College is nearby as well. Access to the main highway is made easy by the nearby exit and on ramp.
