Hill City Neighborhood

There aren’t many neighborhoods that have a beer named after them, but the Hill City neighborhood in Chattanooga, Tennessee bears that noble distinction.

The original Chattanooga Brewing Company opened in 1890 and lasted until 1915 and was the choice of beer drinkers in Chattanooga, selling beer in most of the city’s local taxes.

Today’s Chattanooga Brewing Company has brought back some of the original brews, and added some of their own including Hill City IPA. The brewery features two seasonal beers each season and a few special brews throughout the year. Located on Frazier Avenue, the brewery is committed to the Hill Street community, as well as being committed to sustainability. Their spent grain, for example, is given to Hoe Hop Valley Farms for feed and composting, and to the Bluff View Bakery and the Bone Appétit dog bakery.

Hill City is bordered by Stringers Ridge Preservation Easement to the west and Dallas Road to the east. To the south is the Northside Community and north is White Oak Park; the zip code for the neighborhood is 37405.
