Emerald green parks, stunning waterfalls, and jagged mountain peaks combine to form a spectacular setting. Tucked in the northernmost section of Oregon, Multnomah County features some of the most beautiful landscape in the country, including Multnomah Falls, a must-see waterfall that tumbles 629 feet, making it the tallest waterfall in Oregon. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, which includes over 292,000 acres.
A park sparkling in deep jewel tones of emerald, amethyst, and ruby is also located in Multnomah County. Portland Japanese Garden, which features lectures, workshops, and exhibitions such as Art in the Garden, is open year-round. It is a five-acre oasis, perfect for finding a quiet hideaway.
Soaring mountains, deep valleys, lakes, and forests make the over-one-million-acre Mt. Hood National Forest a park like no other. This park is popular year-round with hiking, boating, and camping in summer and skiing and snowboarding in winter.
Multnomah County’s county seat is also the largest city in the state – Portland. Washington Park is located in Portland, a densely-populated city with a vibrant music scene, coffee houses, a fun and funky art scene, and plenty of restaurants, shops, and museums. Other cities include Troutdale, Fairview, Gresham, and Maywood Park. Other communities include Springdale, Dodson, Corbett, and Bonneville.
