The university’s Pipe Band features Scottish bagpipes and performs at formal university events; the Kiltie Band, in full Scottish regalia, has performed during every home football game since November 25, 1922, Carnegie’s birthday.

Carnegie Mellon University, also known as CMU, is a private research university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1900, the university’s 140-acre main campus is three miles from downtown Pittsburgh, adjacent to the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
