The University of Oregon, founded in 1876, is the state’s flagship institution. The school is a public, coeducational research university in Eugene, Oregon, and the second-oldest public university in the state. The university boasts academic excellence and hands-on learning opportunities.
The school has a 295-acre campus and incorporates sixty buildings, with more than 260 academic programs taking place in locales from Eugene to Portland, a two-hour drive from the main campus.
The University of Oregon is organized into eight schools and colleges; six professional schools and colleges, an Arts and Sciences College and an Honors College.
The university’s School of Architecture and Allied Arts offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture, art, including digital arts, arts and administration, art history, historic preservation, interior architecture, landscape architecture, and planning, public policy and management and product design. It offers the only accredited degree in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture in Oregon, and its undergraduate architecture program is ranked number one for “Sustainable Design Practice and Principles” by DesignIntelligence magazine. The school also offers an architectural program in Portland.
The College of Arts and Sciences covers a large array of departments; the creative writing graduate program is nationally recognized as being among the best in the nation. The Charles H. Lundquist College of Business is home to the University of Oregon Investment Group and the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, one of the first programs to offer an MBA in sports business.
Pine Mountain Observatory, located 6,300 feet above sea level in central Oregon, is operated by the school’s Department of Physics, and offers basic and advanced scientific research opportunities.
