One of the nation’s last traditional men’s liberal arts colleges, Morehouse College is a private, all-male, historically black college located in Atlanta. It is part of the Atlanta University Center Consortium, the largest of its kind. The center houses four historically black colleges and universities, the others being Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and the Morehouse School of Medicine. Morehouse College’s history dates back to 1867, when it began as the Augusta Institute.
With accolades ranging from being named the “Hottest Men’s College” and one of the “Best Liberal Arts Colleges in the Nation” to ranking number two among all HBCUs in the country, Morehouse College has a reputation for excellence, producing Rhodes Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, Marshall Scholars, and graduating such notable alumni as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Herman Cain, Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson.
