Fairfield University was founded in 1942 as a private, Jesuit university. The Society of Jesus purchased two adjoining estates to develop the university, and it has grown into a 200-acre campus with nearly 5,000 students.
Programs at Fairfield University include 35 undergraduate majors and 35 graduate programs. Some of the university’s most recognized programs include Art History, Religious Studies, Sociology, Biology, and International Studies. Fairfield also offers a five-year Bachelor’s/Master’s Teacher Program.
