Mocksville, NC Apartments for Rent

Ideally located, Mocksville is an hour north of Charlotte, 25 miles southwest of Winston-Salem, and an hour southwest of Greensboro. And while all of these larger metro areas are well within reach, you may discover that you don’t want to leave Mocksville – there’s a lot happening in this little town.

Mocksville is the county seat of Davie County and is the county’s largest town. Settlers began to arrive in the area in the 1740s; however, Mocksville wasn’t incorporated until 1839. The small village that predated the American Revolution was called “Mocks Old Field” and it was the perfect secret location for Colonial forces to meet and plan. Many of them were related to Mocksville citizen (and now folklore legend) Daniel Boone. Historic sites in Mocksville include the Davie County Courthouse, the Downtown Mocksville Historic District, the Salisbury Street Historic District, and the North Main Street Historic District.

Cooleemee Plantation House, just outside Mocksville, is a National Historic Landmark. The unusual shape to the mansion resembles a Greek cross, with four wings extending from the octagonal center. It was built around 1853 by a Superior Court judge who inherited the plantation from his grandfather.

Choose a Mocksville apartment to rent near the historic downtown if you enjoy gorgeous architecture and great antique stores. Downtown Mocksville not only features antique stores, locally-owned shops and businesses, restaurants, and cafes, it is the location of many community events. The Four Oaks Festival features live entertainment, great food, crafts, and activities for kids. Other downtown events include concerts on the Square, the Farmer’s Market, and the Daniel Boone Family Festival & Spring Auction.
