Wydown Skinker Neighborhood
Wydown Skinker is a beautiful and historic neighborhood on the western most edge of St. Louis. With many houses that date to the 1920s and before and streets lined with trees, this is a picturesque neighborhood to walk through on a relaxed, peaceful day, but close enough to the city center that the active businessperson can live in and enjoy the neighborhood without a major commute.
Among the many wonderful features of this neighborhood is that it is just south of Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, Fontbonne College is only minutes away from Wydown Skinker. This makes it an easy choice of neighborhood for a student who has a family or does not want to live on campus. The St. Louis Art Museum and City Library are also both close enough to make it easy for students to visit them, and even the Missouri Historical Society can be found in this neighborhood.
A number of parks and recreational areas make this a perfect neighborhood for families. Along the eastern border of this neighborhood is Forest Park, one of the bigger parks in St. Louis and a great place for kids or pets. In addition, Kelly Baseball field and Francis Field are both close by, allowing for more active children and adults to enjoy the outdoors. The Highlands Golf and Tennis Center gives the adults something else to do to stay fit and active.
For those interested in venturing just a bit farther from the neighborhood, it lies only seven miles from Busch Stadium where the St. Louis Cardinals play, and similar distances from the Busch Brewery with regular tours of its grounds, brewery and stables. One other point of interest here is the Bowling Hall of Fame.
