Summit Hill is a neighborhood in Saint Paul. It is part of the 55102 and 55105 ZIP codes and is located east of Syndicate Street, south of Ashland Avenue, and west of Osceola Avenue and Interstate 35W.
Homes in Summit Hill are mostly detached dwellings and are for the most part owner-occupied. Most of the residences were built in the early 1900s. A majority of residents have at least a bachelor’s degree.
Off St. Clair Avenue within Summit Hill is the Linwood Community Recreation Center. This popular recreation site has several baseball fields used by youth leagues. It also has tennis courts, basketball courts, and multiple-purpose fields utilized for soccer, football, and other activities. Summit Hill residents are also close to the Pleasant Ice Arena, on Pleasant Avenue. This is a popular destination for area skaters at all experience levels.
Much of the excitement in Saint Paul is less than two miles to the northeast of the Summit Hill community. This area has a variety of entertainment and cultural venues. Off Kellogg Boulevard is the Science Museum of Minnesota. This museum is very popular with area youth because they are able to enjoy numerous exhibits and interact with the scientific world in ways they otherwise couldn’t. The museum teaches science in an entertaining way.
Next to the science museum is the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. The Ordway Center is frequented by lovers of theatrical performances and presents many off-Broadway shows throughout the year.
Other popular venues include the Minnesota Museum of History, Minnesota State Capitol Building, and the Xcel Center. Together, these attractions make this area attractive to tourists and residents alike.
