We are a House Community for students, graduate students, and young professionals, and we are especially seeking those who are engaged in the arts. We offer an affordable and upscale habitat for friendly, outgoing individuals who are devoted to their passions and serious about their future. We are seeking a resident who wants to be an active, contributing member of our house community. See our FB page: Tree of Life Community Saint Paul. Want more details? Our Craftsman home offers three levels with 2400 square feet of living space. The house features a roomy three-season porch, a living room with a wood-burning fireplace, and a dining room with a concert-grade digital piano. Our kitchen includes top-quality cookware, plenty of counter space, three refrigerators, chest freezer, a dishwasher, and appliances (ice-maker, air-fryer, crockpots, blenders, food-processor, waffle maker, microwave, toaster oven . . . ). The lower level features a library with projector and screen, a guest room, a tool room, and a laundry room. Our garage offers safe winter storage for bicycles and kayaking equipment for resident use. We also have two full bathrooms (one with a soaker tub) and a brick patio. Plans are to install a deck/stage area and seasonal above-ground pool this summer. Our house is also located in an ideal location. We are situated in a friendly neighborhood near St. Catherine University and the University of St. Thomas, right next to Macalester College on the St. Clair Avenue side. We are right off the 70 Bus stop and two blocks from the A-Line / Bus 84, and we are an easy walk to coffee shops, pubs, and restaurants. Everyone covers a basic maintenance task (1 hour / week), so our home stays clean. In addition, you can earn up to $200/month off rent at $15-25/hour, if you contribute to the community--by cooking, helping with extra maintenance, working on home improvement projects, by hosting community arts events, or by contributing with your art. Also, if you come without a car, your rent is reduced by $30/month. Lastly, we do seek a long-term resident, but we use a monthly lease to secure flexibility. We have one room available on December 1. The very private second-floor bedroom ($560) offer 250 square feet, offers two windows facing East and plenty of light. It has a large closet and comes nicely furnished--including a window air conditioner in summer. The community organizer is a scholar in medieval studies. Current residents include a fiber artist, an urban planner with a tech start-up, and a professional storyteller. We also are home to an adorable Ragdoll kitty named Mr. Adorable. To qualify, you will have a reliable source of income and strong character references. If you are interested, please tell us about your background and goals, and how you might contribute to our house community. We offer a serene and inspiring place and we invite you to join us!
