Hyde Park, Brookwood, Southern Hills is a neighborhood on the far south side of Shreveport, Louisiana. Encompassing the 71118 zip code area in Caddo County, this community is just over 12 miles from the heart of the downtown area. It is roughly bordered by U.S. Highway 171 and Mansfield Road on the west, Williamson Way on the south, and Linwood Avenue on the east. On the north, it extends to LA Highway 3132 and the nearby railroad tracks.
Much of the Hyde Park, Brookwood, Southern Hills community is residential, but there are several commercial areas here, as well. The residential areas of this neighborhood are mostly devoted to single-family homes on well-shaded lots.
Residents of this community enjoy easy access to a variety of amenities, right within neighborhood bounds. For outdoor recreation, Hyde Park is situated along the community’s northern boundary, and the South Shreveport Community Park is located near the center of the community. Both parks offer playgrounds and open green space for games and picnics, and South Shreveport also offers athletic fields and tennis courts.
Two medical centers are also situated within Hyde Park, Brookwood, Southern Hills community bounds, offering residents easy access to quality health care. On the west side is the Wills-Knighton South Hospital, and on the east is the main campus of Lifecare Hospitals, Inc.
For local shopping, residents of this community don’t have to drive far. Hyde Park, Brookwood, Southern Hills is literally surrounded by shopping centers, including Lynbrook on the north and Summers Grove, Southside Village, and South Jewella Plaza on the west.
Several public and private golf courses are situated a few miles west of this community, as is the Shreveport Regional Airport.
