Southwest Area covers a large area. Several parks are part of this section of town. Riverside Park offers residents plenty of walking trails in addition to the baseball diamond and the children’s playground. The big attraction, however, is the skate park, which offers some extreme action for the dedicated skater. Jones Memorial Park is huge at over 200 acres. It has just about anything anyone could want — a swimming pool, a disc golf course, tennis and basketball courts, a horseshoe pit, a playground, picnic areas and grill, and soccer and baseball fields. Hayes Park is a small park that includes a playground and a baseball field. Jones Park Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course owned by the city of Cedar Rapids.
