Kenwood Park is located in zip code 52402 and is in the far northeastern corner of Cedar Rapids. It is situated east of Interstate 380 at Collins Road. The boundaries of the community are Oakland Road and Old Marion Road to the west, Collins Road North East to the north, 32nd Street North East to the south, and the Town and Country Shopping Center to the east. Cedar Rapids is known as “The City of Five Seasons,” because commute times are short, and people have time to enjoy life and the changing seasons.
Kenwood Park is located just to the west of Marion and south of Hiawatha. It is a short distance from Rockwell Collins, one of the major employers in Cedar Rapids. The neighborhood is largely made up of single-family homes, many of which are surrounded by mature trees. Lots are set back from the street so that homes have a nicely maintained front yard area.
The neighborhood is served by the Cedar Rapids Bus system, making it possible for residents to avoid driving to their destinations. Both Mount Mercy College and Coe College are a short distance south of Kenwood Park. At the easternmost edge of the neighborhood, there is the Town and Country Shopping Center, and Lindale Mall is also just a short distance to the east.
Kenwood Park is a small neighborhood park that is situated in the middle of the neighborhood and has playgrounds for the younger residents of the community. Noelridge Park, which is just adjacent to the area, has a pool, hiking trail and more.
Cedar Rapids boasts a collection of paintings by Grant Wood at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Art and music lovers will also enjoy presentations by Legion Arts, an award-winning and nationally recognized center that presents contemporary art, music and theater events.
