Calais Village Neighborhood

Calais Village is a neighborhood in St Petersburg, Florida. The neighborhood is located along 62nd Avenue to the east of Interstate 275 and west of Calais Boulevard. Strangely enough, Calais Village is home to only one resident, The Suncoast Cathedral Assembly. This massive church provides religion to many throughout the surrounding area in an impressive manner. There is also a large daycare center and school that is used by many families that belong to the church.

One of the best destinations located around Calais Village is Sawgrass Lake Park. The park is home to Sawgrass Lake, which is home to a considerable amount of wildlife. The main focus of the park is providing residents of the area with an opportunity to get close to Florida wildlife in a safe manner. Throughout the park are numerous boardwalks that take visitors throughout the park. There is even a tower that overlooks Sawgrass Lake providing an incredible view of the large body of water. Photographers, wildlife lovers, and bird watchers are frequent visitors to the park with their cameras and binoculars constantly ready to view alligators, water birds, turtles, and many other creatures.

A little over a mile to the east is the Mangrove Bay Golf Course. The course is relatively popular in the area and well maintained. Golfers with a variety of skill levels enjoy the challenge of this particular course. There is also a clubhouse with a professional shop and golf pros that are able to assist with questions about the course itself as well as the game of golf in general.

For a different experience, many travel to Gandy Boulevard to visit Derby Lanes. This large venue is known for their horse races. Many from around the area come to watch horses run around the large track.
