The Lakeside neighborhood lies just south of Lake Rhonda and Interstate 70 in Jefferson County, Colorado. Residents of this middle-class neighborhood have easy access to several neighborhood parks, golfing, and a popular family amusement park. What started as a dairy farm is now a gateway community to the City and County of Denver.
Construction of residences began in Lakeside with the incorporation of Mountain View in 1904. Today the Lakeside neighborhood is comprised mainly of single-family homes. The vast majority of residences are single- story bungalows that were built in the 1930s and 1940s.
Lakeside lies within the boundaries of the city of Wheat Ridge, the town of Mountain View, while the tiny town of Lakeside, Colorado lies entirely within the boundaries of the Lakeside neighborhood. Lakeside sits entirely within the 80212 zip code and is encompassed by Harlan Street to the west, West 44th Avenue to the north, Sheridan Boulevard to the east, and West 26th Avenue to the south.
Residents of Lakeside can enjoy the small family-friendly Lakeside Amusement Park from May to September. The amusement park offers rides for all ages, and families are welcome to bring food to the picnic grounds. Panorama Park within Lakeside offers playground equipment, a basketball court, tennis courts, field sports, and a picnic area. Randall Park has several basketball courts, a lighted baseball field, playground equipment, and a picnic shelter with barbecue grills. The Richards-Hart Estate Park is a popular place for weddings, business meetings, and receptions.
Other recreational opportunities can be found at the nearby Willis Case Golf Course, Berkeley Lake Park, and the popular Sloan’s Lake Park. With its easy access to Interstate 70, Lakeside provides skiers, hikers, and mountain bikers an instant gateway to the mountains just west of Denver. Shopping for residents of Lakeside is available at the Lakeside Shopping Center or along Sheridan Boulevard near Sloan’s Lake.
