French Court Neighborhood

The French Court neighborhood is next to the Santa Ana Freeway. The neighborhood of French Court is bordered by East 17th Street to the north, Penn Way to the east, East Washington Avenue to the south, and North Main Street to the west. French Court is directly east from Washington Square. Some of the homes in the French Court neighborhood were built in the 1910s to 1950s. Both single family and multi family homes can be found in the French Court neighborhood.

Wallace R. Davis Elementary School is located in French Court. The Wallace R. Davis Elementary is part of the Santa Ana School District. French Court is convenient to local shopping and has quick access to major Santa Ana roads. This neighborhood is considered very walkable. Local parks to French Court include Logan Park, Cabrillo Park, Mabury Park, Birch Park, Sasscer Park, Prentice Park, and Avalon Park.

Santa Ana was named in honor of Saint Anne in 1769 by a Spanish expedition leader and the area started out as a cattle ranch. The city of Santa Ana was incorporated in 1886 and was designated the county seat of Orange County when it separated from Los Angeles in 1889. Santa Ana is the government and financial center of Orange County. Santa Ana is the largest city in Orange County and takes up 27.2 square miles.

Popular Santa Ana attractions include the Bowers Museum of Cultural Arts, Discovery Museum of Ocean County, Discovery Science Center, Santa Ana Zoo, Historic Downtown Santa Ana, Santa Ana Artist’s Village, Howe-Waffle House, Kidseum, Old Courthouse Museum, Santa Ana Public Library, and Fairhaven Memorial Park. The Santa Ana city flower is the Hibiscus and the tree is the Jacaranda. Over 350,000 residents live within Santa Ana.
