The eastern border basically follows Franklin Road until it reaches Florin Road. It is ten miles from the northern border of Interstate 80 to the southern border that follows the farmland to Laguna Park.
Southwestern Sacramento residents have many places to play. The 22-acre Reichmuth Park has an expansive spread of lawn for soccer that borders the lighted ball field and tennis courts. There are two playgrounds, so the little ones are safe to play on the equipment while the older children can be more adventurous. There is a spray pool that all the children enjoy and several places for picnics.
The expansive William Land Park is a destination for all of Sacramento’s residents. The picnic areas have barbecue grills, and there are two lakes with ducks that beg for food. Children can fish at designated times. The playground is enclosed for safety, and there is a wading pool. Fairytale Town is a theme park with fairy tale and nursery rhyme equipment. Funderland is a small amusement park that also has pony rides. The Sacramento Zoo is part of this park as is the nine-hole William Land Golf Course. The park is the home of the Pacific Little League.
In an area this large, public transportation is necessary and the major routes have bus service. Places to shop and dine are found everywhere. The apartments, condos, and single-family homes by the river are more expensive, but there is affordable housing throughout the area. Children do not need to travel far to attend their neighborhood schools, and, of course, the Sacramento River provides boating, fishing and swimming, which just adds to the appeal of this neighborhood.
