Northgate is situated between San Juan Road and West El Camino Avenue, with Northgate Boulevard running along the eastern edge. This diverse community is located about three miles north of downtown Sacramento, California. South Natomas is to the west of Northgate. Discovery Plaza Shopping Center is southwest of the neighborhood.
Several neighborhood parks include Rio Tierra Park, Strauch School Park, and Northgate Park. Northgate is about one mile north of Discovery Park, a great park along the American River and part of the American River Parkway. This park is on the convergence of the American and Sacramento Rivers, making it the perfect location for jet skiing, boating, fishing, picnicking, hiking, or just enjoying watching the boats sail by.
