The Oakmont neighborhood is bounded on the east by La Crescenta Avenue and by the Oakmont Country Club. From La Crescenta, Oakmont rises into the Verdugo Mountains in a network of terraces and drives. The southernmost streets in Oakmont are Beaudry Boulevard and San Gabriel Avenue. Homes in the Oakmont neighborhood were built in three waves of development in the 1930s, '60s and '80s. They are of varied styles, but all have well designed landscaping and mature trees. The canyon-side setting means that many houses have steps down to the street, while other homes begin at street level and then step up or down the hillside. Some homes, particularly in the area of Oakmont nearest the country club, are set on flat lots, but most are not.
The homes of Oakmont are pleasantly secluded, but their location is still convenient to shopping in adjacent La Crescenta and Montrose. Both the Foothill Freeway and the Glendale Freeway are less than two miles away, and offer easy connections to Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
Nearby downtown Glendale offers many cultural attractions, including yearly celebrations like the Modern Times Art Deco Show at the Civic Auditorium; the Cruise Night car show and festival; and Glendale’s own take on Oktoberfest.
