There is a wonderful branch of the Berkeley Public library a block away, and even more exciting, there is an adjacent tool lending library, so for instance on a hot day you can borrow an ice cream maker to churn your own fresh ice cream. A local market is 2 blocks off. Shotgun Players Theater is also a 2 blocks off. The delicious local tradition known as "Thai temple brunch," happens every Sunday at the nearby Thai temple, which is next to the library. The weekly South Berkeley Farmers market is a 13-minute walk.
