Alki Beach is unique in Seattle, being one of the few sandy beaches in the area and perhaps the most popular in the summer. With plenty of shared bikes and scooters for rent, a jogging and biking path, fire pits, picnic tables, and a bathhouse and art studio, this beach is popular year-round. Alki Beach Park is also part of the renowned 'Whale Trail,' a series of sites to view whales and other marine mammals from shore along the Pacific Coast. The best time to see orca whales from Alki is during the fall and winter. West Seattle itself is a gem, easily accessible by Water Taxi, bus, car, and ride share, offering a small-town vibe with its proximity to downtown Seattle. It can sometimes get very noisy here depending on the season and time of year.
