Deep in the heart of southeast Texas, Montgomery County is one of the counties within the Houston-Sugar Land Baytown metro area. It is directly north of Houston and is considered one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. Montgomery County was created in 1837 and the county seat is Conroe.
The suburban city of Conroe shares its name with a popular outdoor recreation hotspot, Lake Conroe. Lake Conroe is located about seven miles from the city and is a popular destination for water skiing, jet skiing, boating, fishing, swimming, and golfing. The area surrounding the lake is scattered with luxury hotels, RV parks, and exclusive real estate developments.
Montgomery County includes part of the Sam Houston National Forest. This vast park includes the 128-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail, campgrounds, fishing and hunting areas, and boating on Lake Conroe and Lake Livingston.
Cities in Montgomery County include Magnolia, Montgomery, Panorama Village, Shenandoah, Stagecoach, Woodloch, and Cut and Shoot. Communities include Dobbin, Porter, River Plantation, Pinehurst, and the Woodlands.
