Huntsville, TX Condos for Rent
There is a small city in east Texas that houses a university and a sense of community that keeps everyone grounded. Upon entering the city you’ll see a sign that reads, “Welcome to Huntsville, Home of Sam Houston.” Huntsville has a total area of 35.86 square miles and a population of more than 39,000.
In 1836, Huntsville began with the opening of a trading post. Just as the welcome sign says, Huntsville became the home of Sam Houston. Houston was the President of the Republic of Texas, Governor of Texas and Tennessee, a U.S. Senator, and a Tennessee congressman. Houston also served as General, leading the Texas Army in the Battle of San Jacinto. Houston is noted for several reasons, one being his unpopular opposition of the Civil War. There was also a prominent African-American which called the city home by the name of Samuel W. Houston – the son of one of Sam Houston’s slaves. In 1907, Samuel founded the Galilee Community School.
