La Salle University, a private, Roman Catholic university founded in 1863, is located in northwestern Philadelphia. The 130-acre urban campus occupies a portion of Philadelphia’s Olde Kensington neighborhood, a charming area of historic factories converted into lofts, artists’ work spaces, and condos.

The La Salle Explorers participate in NCAA Division I as part of the Atlantic Ten Conference. Thee 20 varsity teams include football and basketball. The football team plays at McCarthy Stadium. The basketball team, which is part of the Philadelphia Big 5, plays at Tom Gola arena. Hank DeVincent Field is home to the baseball team.
