Skidmore College - Saratoga Springs, NY

In 1903, Lucy Ann Skidmore inherited money and decided to open a school. She named her school the Young Women’s Industrial Club and the school for women grew quickly. It was renamed the “Skidmore School of Arts” in 1911. Today, Skidmore College is a private, four-year, liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, a small city roughly 34 miles north of Albany.

Skidmore College enrolls abut 2,500 students and offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in about 50 areas. Highly selective, Skidmore is a top-ranking college that offers small class sizes and a student-faculty ratio of 9 to 1. Buildings include the Arthur Zankel Music Center, a state-of-the-art music center that opened in 2010. In addition to being home to the Music Department, the center features concert halls, an outdoor amphitheater, and a recording studio. The tallest building on campus, Jonsson Tower, features a lounge and the college radio station.
