Michigan State University is a public research university in East Lansing, Michigan. The school was founded in 1855 as the pioneer land-grant college; served as the model for future land-grant institutions; and was the first to study packaging, hospitality business, telecommunication and music therapy.
Today its International Studies and Programs is a hub for international teaching, research and outreach. It is the largest of any single-campus university in the country, offering more than 200 programs in more than 60 countries on all continents including Antarctica.

Michigan State University is considered one of the country’s “Public Ivy” universities. It is the ninth-largest university in the United States, with 47,800 students and 2,954 faculty members. The school’s nuclear physics, engineering, political science, business, journalism, education and osteopathic medicine programs are among the nation’s best. MSU’s Spartans compete in the Big Ten Conference in all sports except ice hockey, in which the team is part of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
