The University of Central Florida is a relatively young school, founded in 1963 to produce skilled workers for the Kennedy Space Center’s emerging space program. UCF began as a small campus located in the eastern region of Orlando and has grown steadily. Today, it has the highest enrollment in the country and is one of the fastest-growing universities. It has been named one of the best up-and-coming universities.

UCF’s unique campus is laid out in a circular pattern with most of the streets named in a space-related theme. Lake Claire is on campus and kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats are free for student use. With its location in the sunshine state, outdoor recreation is abundant. Beaches on either coast are an hour away. On campus, students have full use of the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center, which features two pools, tennis courts, a climbing wall, and plenty of exercise equipment.
