Tuskegee University - Tuskegee, AL

Tuskegee University is a National Historic Landmark, established in 1881 by Booker T. Washington. Considered one of the nation’s top universities, Tuskegee University was ranked the fifth-best HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in 2014 by US News and World Report. Tuskegee was also named as one of the “Best 378 Colleges and Universities” by the Princeton Review in 2014.

The Tuskegee Airmen called Tuskegee University home, and so did George Washington Carver, who severed as the head of the Agriculture Department for 47 years. Alumni include architect Robert R. Taylor, author Ralph Ellison, and Academy Award and Grammy winner Lionel Richie. Tuskegee is one of the top producers of African-American aerospace science engineers in the US and is a leading producer of African-American engineering graduates in chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering. It is also the only historically black college or university with a fully-accredited College of Veterinary Medicine that offers a Doctoral Degree.
