Located in southwestern Meridian, Key Field dates back to 1928. Today, this Mississippi Air National Guard Base is home to the 186th Air Refueling Wing, which operates a fleet of KC-135R Stratotankers. Other units located on Key Field include the 248th Air Traffic Control Support, 238th Air Support Operations Squadron, the 286th Air Operations Group, and two Army National Guard units.
Meridian, the sixth largest city in Mississippi, is located roughly 92 miles east of Jackson. Established in 1830, Meridian is a charming city with nine historic districts. The city also contains several parks, including the 3,300-acre Bonita Lakes. Bonita Lakes Park includes three lakes, a municipal golf course, nature trails, bike paths, horseback riding trails, boat ramps, fishing, and a jogging track.
