The county is home to 17 parks with many trails for hiking, running and biking. Memorial Park allows visitors to camp among its majestic redwoods, and Sam McDonald Park has trails for horseback riding. Parts of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area are also located in San Mateo County.
