More than 80 percent of the country’s lettuce is grown in Salinas, which is sometimes referred to as America’s salad bowl.
Famous Carmel-by-the-Sea is another famous Monterey County city. It is home to poets, artists, writers, actors – and their pets. Carmel is a very dog-friendly city and many restaurants and shops allow dogs. Located along the coast, Carmel has some interesting quirks and some equally interesting residents.
