A Tucson resident since 1972, Chris Smith joined the U.S. Navy in 1990 and proudly served his country for four years. During his enlistment, he earned numerous medals including the Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 bronze stars), and Kuwait Liberation Medal. He served on the USS Midway during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and Operation Fiery Vigil in the evacuation of Clark Air Force Base after the explosion of Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines.
After he was honorably discharged in 1994, Chris headed to college, and in 1997, earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Northern Arizona University.
Whether it is working with a first-time homebuyer, a luxury home listing, or a seasoned investor, Chris prides himself on his unparalleled service with an aptitude for problem-solving – something essential for navigating clients through the challenges of today’s real estate market. His start in the real estate industry began when he and his business partner founded Tucson and Scottsdale Golf Vacations in 2000. Over the years, as their golf vacation business flourished, Chris would be approached by his golf clients about buying homes in the Greater Tucson area, and by 2004, he had founded Mountain Vista Real Estate & Vacation Rentals. The latter company was acquired by a national brokerage in December of 2017, and Tucson and Scottsdale Golf Vacations is still thriving to this day.
