The community of Wilburton is located in Bellevue, Washington, about a 40-minute drive east of Downtown Seattle across Lake Washington.
Wilburton is roughly bounded by Northeast 24th Street to the north, Lake Hills Connector Road to the south, Interstate 405 to the west, and Kelsey Creek Park and 136th Avenue Northeast to the east.
The community, once an old logging camp, today is a suburban oasis. One of the oldest and more unique neighborhoods in Bellevue, the neighborhood offers a park-like feel, with an abundance of trees, greenery, and preserved parks and open spaces.
Perhaps the most known destination in Wilburton is the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. The gardens consist of 53 acres of gardens, woodlands, meadows, and wetlands. It’s a relaxing, enjoyable, and educational place to spend an afternoon. The garden is free and tours are offered every weekend.
For more outdoor adventure, residents head to Kelsey Creek Park, a 150-acre forest and wetland habitat located in southeast Wilburton. Visiting Kelsey Creek Park is a great outing for kids as there is an actual working farm located on the grounds, which hosts a number of kids’ recreation programs. The park also offers hiking trails, picnic and play areas.
Avid golfers in the area are very familiar with all that Glendale Country Club has to offer. This private 18-hole golf course is located just south of Northeast 8th Street, in the eastern portion of the Wilburton community. Beyond a championship golf course, the club also offers members a pool, card rooms, banquet rooms, exquisite dining, and activities.
For plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment, residents just take a quick 5-minute drive west to Downtown Bellevue. Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square, and Bellevue Place feature more than 200 retail shops and dining establishments, three department stores, and a 16-screen cinema.
