Viewpoint, sometimes referred to as “Idylwood,” is an upscale neighborhood in southeast Redmond. Viewpoint’s boundaries are West Lake Sammamish Parkway on the north, Lake Sammamish on the east, 172nd Avenue NE to the West, and NE 24th Street on the south. The neighborhood is primarily residential, with facilities like schools and parks scattered among Viewpoint’s streets.
Viewpoint Neighborhood Park, on NE 24th Street, features basketball courts, a playground, picnic area, and walking and running trails. Idylwood Park on West Sammamish Lake Parkway has a wading and swimming area with lifeguards, playground equipment, covered barbecue and picnic areas, volleyball courts, and restrooms. Tam O’Shanter Park offers play areas and access to trails around the 15-acre forested park. Ardmore Park features trails, picnic tables, and a play area.
Nearby Village Greens Golf Course and Brae Burn Golf Course attract golfers to Viewpoint from the greater Redmond area. Brae Burn Golf Course attract golfers to Viewpoint from the greater Redmond area. Village Greens is a municipal golf course with a driving range. Built in 1958, Village Greens is a regulation 18-hole course that plays short and rewards accuracy. Brae Burn is an 18-hole executive course, privately owned.
Highly rated Audobon Elementary School, on the east side of Viewpoint, teaches kindergarteners through sixth graders in the community. The school encourages cultural development by participating in an Art Docent program and the Reflections Program, a national and state-wide cultural arts competition. On the west side of the neighborhood, Ardmore Elementary School also offers K through 6 classes.
Several churches serve the neighborhood, including Trinity Anglican Church and the Ling Shen Ching Tze temple.
