View Ridge Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Seattle View Ridge neighborhood is a quiet residential neighborhood located in the north end of the city, near Sand Point and north of the University of Washington. The area overlooks Magnuson Park in Sand Point, with views of Lake Washington, Bellevue Washington, the North Cascade Mountains, and Mount Rainier. On a clear day, even Mount Baker can be viewed from View Ridge hills. Magnuson Park was previously a Naval Air station and now provides picnic grounds and a swimming beach for neighbors. Originally founded in 1936, the area now known as View Ridge was a forested area in the city’s early years, and only incorporated into the City of Seattle in 1942. The elementary school was built a few years later, in 1948.
Students attend View Ridge Elementary or the private school, Seattle Country Day, located nearby. Some residents also attend the Hebrew Day School on Capital Hill. For middle school, students can attend Eckstein Middle School, then graduate to Roosevelt High School or Nathan Hale High School. College students enjoy near access to the University of Washington and Seattle Central Community College, as well as North Seattle Community College near Northgate.
View Ridge is primarily a single-family home neighborhood. Some multiple-unit apartment buildings line the busier streets, such as 65th Street. Sixty Fifth Street is also one of the shopping streets. Buses take commuters east and west along 65th Street. The neighborhood is an easy commute for students and faculty headed to the University of Washington. Many enjoy the back roads for a bike commute.
