Tibbetts Creek Valley is a neighborhood in Issaquah, Washington, located in King County near Seattle. South of Newport Way and east of State Route 900, Tibbetts Creek covers about a 93-acre plot. The neighborhood is made up of primarily single-family homes, but the soil in the area is rich and has been used for farming.
Home density is one home on four acres. The Tibbetts Creek Greenway Restoration Project protects development in this area. The Resource Conservation Office is charged with improving the quality of water in the stream, as well as protecting the fish habitat in and around the stream and wetlands. They provide and maintain a trail system to allow for more public usage and access. The lower portion of Tibbetts Creek is dedicated to recreational usage. The area, however, is prone to flooding and slides.
Tibbetts Creek Valley once contained working coal mines and some of the mines are now subject to safety issues. The original European settlers who came to Issaquah mined the hills here, and when the mines ran out, the commerce turned to logging. After World War II and the completion of two floating bridges, commuters from Seattle began to populate the area.
The Murrow Memorial Bridge and the Hadley Memorial Bridges speed traffic from Seattleās metropolitan core along Interstate 90. Now, many national corporations have their headquarters along this corridor, including T-Mobile and Costco. Residents in Tibbetts Creek Valley enjoy near access to the 200 miles of trails that run through the Issaquah Alps, foothills to the Cascade Mountains.
