Pine Hurst Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Pinehurst neighborhood is located in the northern part of Seattle. The area includes the land between 130th Street NE and Northgate Way NE. The eastern boundary is Lake City Way, and Interstate 5 bounds the western edge. The neighborhood is filled with single-family homes, some of which have west-facing views of Lake Washington, the Cascade Mountains, and Mount Rainier.
The neighborhood enjoys proximity to the Northgate Mall, the first shopping mall in the United States. This open-air mall houses major department stores, along with mom-and-pop vendors. Other shops and restaurants along Lake City Way provide supplies to the neighborhood.
For outdoor activities, residents enjoy Pinehurst Playfield, Pinehurst Pocket Park, and Thornton Creek Park. Thornton Creek is a feeder creek to Lake Washington, with headwaters in Haller Lake to the north. The park is a wooded area that follows the creek and provides open space. In addition to a playground and public restrooms, Pinehurst Playfield has sports fields for basketball, soccer, and baseball. Pinehurst Pocket Park is a neighborhood park with a picnic area and small grassy spot for gathering.
The Pinehurst Green Grid is a project of Seattle Public Utilities that was completed in 2006. Covering 12 blocks, the project provides water management and drainage for the neighborhood watershed and encourages residents to stroll in the wildlife area around Thornton Creek.
Pinehurst residents who are commuters utilize Lake City Way for quick access to Interstate 5 and downtown or to travel north to Bothell and Everett. The University of Washington is located to the south of the neighborhood, and North Seattle Community College is also nearby.
