Greater Duwamish Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Greater Duwamish is home to the industrial district of Seattle. Many imports and exports go through the ports located in this area. For obvious reasons, the ports are one of the largest employers in the area, and many who live in the Greater Duwamish area are here for the sake of convenience.
One of the most obvious attractions outside of the major ports located throughout the area is Boeing Field. This is the test field for Boeing, a major manufacturer of aircraft throughout the world. Part of Boeing Field is the Museum of Flight. This museum is popular with tourists to the area and local residents. The museum provides a great education on the principles of flight as well as the history of flight. There are also several aircraft at the museum for visitors to explore.
Beyond the industry of the area, recreation is quite popular. One of the area parks is Georgetown Playground located off of Homer Street. This park is somewhat small, but the close location to the Greater Duwamish neighborhood makes it popular with residents. Inside the park is a soccer field, basketball court, tennis court, and of course a playground. Georgetown is also popular for pet owners who often bring their dogs through the park to socialize them.
If golf is more your thing, just a little over a mile to the northeast of Greater Duwamish is Jefferson Park. The course is a decent-sized course where many area residents come to play. The park also has a recreation center that features other activities such as lawn bowling.
Just south of Jefferson Park is the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. This is one of the primary care facilities for many of the numerous veterans that call Seattle home and one of the largest hospitals in the area.
