Grass Lawn is one of the nine neighborhoods that comprise Redmond, Washington. Redmond, a suburb of Seattle, is best known for housing Microsoft and Nintendo of America. Redmond is easily accessed via SR-520, a floating bridge that runs from Seattle’s University District across Lake Washington. Redmond’s proximity to Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish offers many recreational opportunities.
Grass Lawn is located in southwestern Redmond. The area covers 1.56 square miles. The neighborhood’s boundaries are Redmond Way to the north and Northeast 60th Street to the south. The eastern boarder is SR-520, and the western edge abuts West Lake Sammamish Parkway. The neighborhood is comprised primarily of single-family homes named for the area’s green open spaces.
Several wetland areas are located in Grass Lawn, such as the one on Old Redmond Road and 140th Avenue Northeast. A ravine along 148th Avenue Northeast is home to both a stream and wildlife. The Grass Lawn Pavilion is a rental facility belonging to the City of Redmond. Located on Northeast 70th Street, the covered facility has public restrooms, easy access to parking, gas fireplaces. It is also located close to the neighborhood soccer fields. The historic Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center houses many neighborhood events and activities.
Grass Lawn residents commute either along the Interstate 90 corridor or SR-520’s floating bridge to Downtown Seattle. The area is also easily accessed via SR-405 between Everett and Tacoma.
