West Central is a medium-sized, moderately populated community of Spokane within the 99205 and 99201 zip codes. At an area of 2.338 square miles, it has a population of just under 9,000 residents.

Although it’s primarily a residential neighborhood, several shops and malls are nearby. River Park Square, a popular shopping center with a movie theater, is a mile to the southeast. The Northtown Mall, Spokane’s primarily indoor shopping arena, is two and a half miles northeast of the community and features such stores as Kohls, Girls Foot Locker, JC Penney, Macy’s, Sears, and Lane Bryant.

Several restaurants are also within walking distance. Hold Your Grounds Expresso is a quarter-mile to its east, while the Maxwell House Restaurant is a quarter-mile to its northeast. West Central is a very family-friendly neighborhood, with several playgrounds and schools in or within walking distance. Cannon Playground is a quarter-mile to the north. Riverfront Park is a mile to its southeast, and offers waterfalls, a carousel, a duck pond, a playground, picnic facilities and fountains.

Bryant School, which is noted for its excellent teaching staff and head start program, is a quarter-mile southeast of West Central. Holmes Elementary School is just under a half-mile to its west, and its reviews call it a perfect place for parents interested in community involvement from the school. The Bancroft Center School, Havermale High School, and Trinity Catholic School are also within a half-mile radius.
