Nestled alongside several other Spokane residential communities, Comstock is a medium-sized neighborhood in the 99223 and 99203 zip codes. With an area of 2.731 square miles, it has a population of about 6,800 residents.
Most of the homes in Comstock are single-family, detached houses of varying designs and styles, from one-story, ranch-style homes to Mediterranean homes. There are also townhouses and apartment complexes nearby.
Manito Park and Botanical Gardens is about a half-mile north of the neighborhood. This park has 20 acres of botanical gardens and 78 acres of both cultivated and natural parkland. It also has a conservatory, a dog-friendly playground, and an arboretum. Comstock Park, the namesake of the community, is within its borders, and it offers multiple-use ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, horseshoes, a swimming pool, a playground for children, and picnic tables.
Comstock is a family-friendly neighborhood, with several well-regarded schools within walking or driving distance. Sacajawea Middle School, which is noted for the academic achievements of its students, is under a half-mile northeast of the community, while the esteemed Jefferson Elementary School and Southside Montessori School are under a half-mile to the east. Daybreak School, Comstock School, All Saints Middle School, and Cataldo Catholic School are within a one-mile radius.
Educational opportunities also extend far beyond the classroom in and near Comstock. The Corbin Art Center is a mile and a half to its north. The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture is three miles to its northwest, while Mobius Kids, a museum, is two and a half miles to its north. Jundt Art Museum is three miles to its north, and the Children’s Museum of Spokane is two and a half miles to its north.
