Located approximately 2.5 miles from downtown Roanoke, Villa Heights is one of the city’s older residential neighborhoods. Although newer houses are spread throughout Villa Heights, older dwellings are prevalent in this Virginia neighborhood. The homes vary in construction, with some dating to the 1930s.
Villa Heights is bordered by Melrose Avenue Northwest to the south, Lafayette Boulevard Northwest to the east and Cove Road Northwest to the north. East of the neighborhood is the Roanoke Country Club. This historic country club was established in the late 1800s and is still an integral part of Roanoke. It is a private facility with membership by invitation.
Located within the neighborhood is the Villa Heights Recreation Center and Park, which offers programs to the community. About a mile east of the neighborhood is Eureka Park. Both of these large, scenic parks offer open space for enjoying the outdoors or having a picnic lunch. Eureka Park also has a small ball field.
Dog owners can take advantage of Highland Park’s dog park, about 2.5 miles south of Villa Heights. Highland Park also has a children’s playground.
The location of the Villa Heights neighborhood is convenient to shopping, dining, and entertainment. A city bus stop is located at the corner of Aspen Street Northwest and Massachusetts Avenue Northwest. Within the neighborhood, a majority of the commercial offerings are on either end of Lafayette Boulevard. Just minutes to the northeast are the Valley View Shopping Center and Valley View Mall, also just south of the Roanoke Regional Airport.
Villa Heights is located in the 24017 ZIP code in Roanoke County. Public schools that surround the neighborhood include Westside Elementary, William Ruffner Middle, and William Fleming High School. The Melrose Branch Public Library is less than a mile from the community.
