The neighborhood of Woodland is located three miles northwest of Lynchburg, in central Virginia. Lynchburg lies on the banks of the James River and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its single-family homes have a lot of character and are set among gorgeous densely wooded areas.
Woodland is in a prime location for those who love nature. It is close to the James River and its Riverwalk, a 3.5 mile paved trail, and the James River Heritage Trail. Riverside Park provides a mix of passive and active recreation: walking trails, tennis courts, even a transportation museum. The bikeway at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area is approximately three miles along an historic, abandoned railroad bed.
Woodland belongs to the the Lynchburg City Public Schools District. There are two hospitals close by: Virginia Baptist and Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Centra Health manages four hospitals in Lynchburg and is one of the largest employers in the area.
The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company provides public transport by bus between Woodland and other areas of Lynchburg. Intercity bus and rail transport is provided from Kemper Street Station. U.S. Highway 501, Langhorne Road and Rivermont Avenue are the major roads that serve Woodland.

This historic tobacco port, as is was originally founded, offers a wide array of activities for the history buff too, like the Civil War trails and historic homes and cemeteries.
